The Victorian Institute of Forensic Medicine (VIFM) is an institution that provides independent forensic medical and scientific expertise to the justice system.
Work on the project focused on the modernisation of the existing facility. This contained redeveloping the Coronial Admission and Enquiries department to include staff offices, family viewing rooms and a new visitor entry. Additionally, upgrades occurred to the infectious disease facility, including procuring and installing imaging equipment such as a CT scanner and MRI machine.
In addition to the refurbishment works the entire electrical infrastructure was upgraded. These works included:
– A new substation
– A new MSB
– A new backup generator
– New submains
Impressively, all major works were carried out while maintaining uninterrupted 24/7 operation of the facility.
